Haiti - Social : Launch of a new phase of the project KAPAB 13/07/2013 11:20:48 This second phase of the project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the organization Christian Blind Mission (CBM), aims to strengthen the human and financial resources of these institutions. Organizations that have benefited from this program are involved in education, vocational training for youth and rehabilitation. They also develop income-generating activities, such as processing and marketing of agricultural products, and promote access to employment. The training sessions were held over several weeks, after which, the responsible of organization submitted documents of project aimed at improving the living conditions of persons with reduced mobility, of structural impact and a contribution to the struggle for the integration of persons with disabilities. Thus, institutions that enjoys the first phase of the project will continue to benefit while new organizations come to integrate the project on a competitive basis. If for beneficiaries associations of the first phase whose : Haitian Aid Society for the Blind (SHAA), the Foyer d'Amour d'Haïti, the Association of the Disabled in Motion (ASHAMO), the envelope was of 50,000 U.S. dollars each, those awards for the second phase including the National Advocacy Center of Disadvantaged and Disabled (CNDDH), Association of Disabled of Grand Goave (ASHAGG ) each received an allocation of 25,000 U.S. dollars. "I am both pleased with our work and happy with the contribution of CBM", said Samuel Cossy head of CNDDH, whose main activities are designed to ensure food security for its members. With this funding, it will established a workshop for agricultural transformation within the organization. "The capabilities of the members of the association will be highlighted and it will also be a source of income for each of them," confident that the strengthening of structures organized in the sector working in the disability field will be beneficial for the whole community. Rosemay Legouté, Director of the School Foyer d'Amour d'Haïti, one of the 10 institutions involved in the project, which is specialized in the training and supervision of children with intellectual disabilities, declared to receive the envelope with a sense of freedom. "We are freed of our constraints and this gives us the opportunity to organize ourselves," convinced that the impact of the project KAPAB on the change of life for people with disabilities will be very positive.
