Haiti - Montreal : The Dream of the Maison d'Haïti takes shape...
The official launch of its fundraising campaign this Sunday, May 27, is a great day for the Maison d'Haïti and marks the realization of his dream : of redeployment.

The theme of the fundraiser "A roof... for you and me", perfectly illustrates the urgent needs of the Maison d'Haïti who, already cramped in its premises before the earthquake of January 12, 2010 is, since, taken with a serious congestion because of course of the new services put in place for the arrival of Haitian families arrived from Haiti, but also because of the population growth of other communities that came to settle in Saint-Michel and who attend equally, the Maison d'Haïti. It currently provides services to nearly 250 people per day.

This redeployment will participate in a major way to the revitalization of the neighborhood Saint-Michel, since many spaces will be made available to the community.

For the Maison d'Haïti, it will be the opportunity to celebrate its 40th anniversary, 40 years of unwavering social commitment, while participating in the celebration of 100 years of Saint-Michel where it settled 30 years ago, by opening new perspectives to showcase the Haitian culture and promote inter-cultural exchanges.

Claude Béland, former President of Desjardins Group [1983-2000], and Régine Laurent, President of the interprofessional fundraising of the health of Quebec which have agreed to be co-president of the fundraising campaign, are models of social engagement and of success, whose philosophy matches to that of the Maison d'Haiti. Both, in very different field, are convinced, on the one hand that civic education is a right and an essential tool for the future of young and less young, and secondly, the pooling of all skills can break down the inter-cultural barriers.
