Haiti - Politics : Subsidized textbooks still unavailable
Less than one month from the beginning of the school year, scheduled for September 4, the subsidized textbooks are still not available according to the Ministry of Education, which is not able to say when these books will be available... However, the Ministry claims to have paid nearly 600 million Gourdes of subsidies to the various printing companies involved in the production of these books...

The Ministry specifies that the subsidies on textbooks for the 2017-2018 academic year are maintained at 70% for textbooks at the 1st and 2nd cycles this year, pointing out that some of the third cycle books will be subsidized at 60% and concernes especially students from non-public and private schools.

In addition, the Ministry emphasizes that "the system of staffing of books is also maintained for public schools, national or presbyteral national congregations [...]" It should be remembered that within the framework of the endowment, the student receives school books that it must maintain well and will have to and over at the end of the academic year so that another student can benefit from them.

Since the late 1990s, the Government through the Ministry of Education has been subsidizing certain school books in order to reduce the burden for parents at back to school.
