Haiti - Politic : Crisis, blocking in the Senate and demonstrations are coming...
Monday, Senator Desras, President of the Senate before his Monday's meeting with President Martely declared on a radio station of the capital that the meeting was a "farce since the Coordinator of the Consultative Commission, Réginald Boulos, made to believe to the President Martelly he could designate another Prime Minister without Parliament..."

It is highly likely that the Commission has interpreted Article 165 of the Constitution, which stipulates in its second part "[...] In case of permanent incapacity duly established of the Prime Minister or his removal of the position for personal reasons, the President chooses an interim Prime Minister among the members of the ministerial cabinet pending the formation of a new government in a period not exceeding 30 days" what effectively allow to eliminates the need for ratification of the two House. Except that in the present case it is a resignation following a recommendation of a Presidential Commission and not an inability and Article 165 in its first part, makes the distinction and states "In case of resignation of the Prime Minister, the Government remains in place to deal with current business until the inauguration of his successor" implying in accordance with the Constitution, the designation of a new Prime Minister and a general policy whom must be ratified by both houses as thinks the Senator Desras.

On the other hand, the G5 (pro-government Senators), who disapprove the report of the Consultative Commission https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12719-haiti-flash-i-agree-with-the-recommendations-that-were-made-dixit-michel-martelly.html which led to the resignation of the Prime Minister, that it describes as "political disaster", intend to make the law in the Senate and block any ratification process of the next Prime Minister and the vote of its general policy. Senator Edwin Zenny, frustrated that the G5 has not been consulted by the Commission, said that the G6 grouping opposition senators, had paralyzed the Senate for 9 months by refusing to vote the amendments to the electoral law, aying today it was the turn of the G5 to make their voices heard.

Furthermore, if the resignation of Prime Minister Lamothe, was to ease tensions, according to the wishes of the Commission, the consultation table of the radical opposition does not share this view, believing impossible to move forward in democracy, with the team in power. Convinced that the resignation of the Prime Minister https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12727-haiti-flash-resignation-of-laurent-lamothe-and-his-ministers.html is the victory of the street, the "Patriotic Movement for Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD) believes they are close to overthrow the regime and confirmed the demonstrations of 16 and 18 December to demand the departure of President Martelly. Assad Volcy, a member of MOPOD that abounds in the same direction, called his supporters to mobilize until the departure of the Head of State. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12736-haiti-politic-reactions-around-the-decisions-of-the-president-and-prime-minister.html

Finally, opposition activists, Rony Timothée and Biron Odigé recently released after more than a month of detention, reaffirmed their determination to continue the mobilization until the resignation followed the arrest of President Michel Martelly.
