Yesterday, Tuesday, November 8, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Laurent Lamothe, received in his residence, the members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations accredited in Haiti and the Honorary Consuls.

In his speech for the occasion, the Chancellor Lamothe thanked the international community for its unwavering support to the advancement of democracy in Haiti. He welcomed the willingness of partners to contribute to improving the lives of the Haitian population. The Minister Lamothe has also advocated for the strengthening of budget support to the Government despite the fact that over 60% of aid goes through NGOs.

The Chancellor has expressed its new vision of diplomacy which should serve as springboard to the increase of foreign investment in Haiti. He asked all the diplomats present to encourage their countrymen to visit Haiti and to invest. He also asked them to plan misiones between the different Chambers of Commerce in order to mirror the opportunities offered by the country.

For his part, Mgr Bernadito Auza, the Apostolic Nuncio, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, thanked and confirmed once again the good disposition of the international community to work with the current Government to provide the people of Haiti a better tomorrow.
