Haiti - Building sites-schools : 254 families in the South will benefit of new houses 15/04/2023 10:08:51 About 254 vulnerable families in the South will benefit from new houses that meet seismic and anticyclonic standards. These houses are built according to Improved Local Construction Techniques (TCLA) and follow the theoretical and practical training sessions that 50 civil engineers from Les Cayes and Nippes have benefited from. It should be recalled that the IOM kicked off these training sites on February 17, 2023 through the Risk Management and Resilience to Climate Hazards Project (PGRAC) in support of the Ministry of the Interior and financed by the World Bank. This project, which aims to strengthen the development of the local capacities of the populations, should also lead to the additional training of 2,246 local workers in the building sector. Three of these houses have already been completed for the benefit of three families, residing in the town of Camps-Perrin. Learn more about TCLA : The Technique of Local Enhanced Construction (TCLA) is a lightweight construction technique, which protects people in homes during earthquakes and can withstand a Cat-4 hurricane.
